RESOLUTION NO. 96-170
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
COMMENDING DIRECTOR OF ELECTRIC UTILITY, L. SAMUEL LINDLEY
WHEREAS, L. Samuel (Sam) Lindley began his professional career as
a Field Service Engineer with the General Electric Company and in 1974 ,
after accepting a promotion to Area Engineer for the Northern
California area, transferred to Redding; and
WHEREAS, in 1976 , Sam Lindley began working for the City of
Reddinc� as its first Electrical Engineer, was promoted to Senior
Electrical Engineer in 1980, and subsequently appointed Director of
Electric Utility for the City in July 1981; and
WHEREAS, Sam Lindley has, during his years of employment with the
General Electric Company and his 20 years with the City of Redding,
been directly involved in the design, application, construction, and
operation of electric utility systems and equipment, and has been
responsible for the administration and development of the City' s
electric utility system and electrical resources; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the numerous duties and responsibilities
associated with directing a City department, Sam Lindley has also found
time to serve on many professional organizations specific to his
career, such as :
*Transmission Agency of Northern California (TANC)
*Modesto-Santa Clara-Redding (MSR) Joint Powers Agency
*Northern California Power Agency (NCPA)
*Northern California Power Pool (NCPP)
*Chair of the TANC Contracts Committee
*Member of the MSR Finance Committee
*Member of the NCPA Legislative Committee
*Past President of the California Municipal Utilities Association
*Past President of the Northern California Municipal Electric
Association
*Controller for the Northern California Municipal Electric
Association
*Member of Redding Rotary East; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Director of Electric Utility, Sam
Lindley has been instrumental in the completion of many major projects
for the City such as :
*Construction of the Whiskeytown Hydroelectric Project
*Acquisition of the Redding Power Plant
*Construction of the Electric Power Scheduling and Dispatching
Center
*Guiding the City of Redding' s participation in the California-
Oregon Transmission Project \
*Development of a fully integrated electric utility. �
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City �
of Redding hereby commends L. Samuel Lindley for his outstanding �,
contributions to the City of Redding and his years of dedicated public �
service, and wishes him every success in all his future ventures . '�<.

' I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and
read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on
the 17th day of September, 1996, and was duly adopted at said meeting
by the following vote:
