RESOLUTION NO. 97-73
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING REDUCING THE ELECTRIC UTILITY BASE RATE
FOR NON-RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS.
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted an interim electric rate surcharge to be collected from
Electric Utility customers and deposited into the Electric Rate Reduction Account; and
WHEREAS, the Electric Department and the City Manager are continuously reviewing options and
possibilities for the reduction of the interim rate surcharge and the base rate; and
WHEREAS, non-residential rate customers pay a higher base rate per kWh for electricity consumed
than is paid by residential rate customers;
NOW, '�HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that the Electric Utility's contribution
toward new development shall be reduced by $600,000 per year. The reduction shall become effective
immediately, but shall not apply to any development project for which an improvement plan or building permit
has been issued. The revenue realized from the contribution deduction shall be applied to reduce the base rate
payable by non-residential Electric Utility customers by two percent (2%), effective immediately.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at a regular
meeting of the City Council on the 15th day of April, 1997, by the following vote:
