A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C1TY OF REDDING
AMENDING THE CITY OF REDDING EMPLOYEE BENEFIT POLICIES,
EFFECTIVE APRIL 6, 1997, BY MODIFYING THE UNIFORM
ALLOWANCE POLICY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has studied the current City of Redding Employee Benefit
Policies for unrepresented employces established by Resolution No. 96-62; and
WH�REAS, for thc reasons sct forth in the accompanying Report to City Council, the
Human Resources Manager has recommended that the uniform allowance policy, which is included
in the City of Redding Employce Benefit Policies for unrepresented employees, be modified; and
WHEREAS, the City Council dcems it to bc in thc bcst interests of the City to adopt such
rccommendation, cffective April 6; 1997;
NOW,THEREFORC, IT IS HEREI3Y R�SOLVED by thc City Council that thc uniform
allowancc policy, which is inciudcd in the City of Redding Employee Benefit Policics for
unrepresented cmployees, established by Rcsolution No. 96-62, be rcpealed as of tnidnight April 5,
1997; and a ncw uniform allowancc policy for unceprescnted employees be established as set forth
in Exhibit A, cffcctivc April 6, 1997.

a regular meeting of the City Council of thc City of Redding on the 1 st day of April 1997, by the

UNIFORM ALLOWANCE
, A uniform
allowance shall be granted to those miscellaneous sworn and non-sworn employees required to wear
a uniform as part of their normal job duties as opposed to occasional ceremonial functions, as
follows:

The uniform allowance is normally paid in July of each year and is for the purpose of maintenance
and replacement of uniforms for the ensuing fiscal year. The allowance is not a reimbursement for
the prior year. The first clothing allowance shall be a prorated amount for that period of time from
the employee's date of employment to the following July 1.
The City shall pay the reasonable cost of repair or replacement of uniforms, glasses, watches or
other personal property up to two hundred dollars ($200.00) damaged in the course of employment.
This provision does not apply to items lost or damaged as a result of negligence of the employee.
