C. Participating in "America Recycles Day" is one way citizens can help raise awareness about the need to reduce waste by reusing, recycling and buying recycled products. D. The City of Redding has successfully diverted 22 percent of its garbage from the waste stream to the landf'ill since 1990 through recycling and composting programs, and has goals to d.ivert a total of 50 percent of its waste by 2000 to meet Assembly Bill 939 mandates.
