RESOLUTION NO. 98-��
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCII. OF THE CITY OF
REDDING REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 98-8 AND
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO VACATE THAT PORTION OF
THE CANYON CREEK ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY SOUTH OF ITS
IN�`ERSECTION WITH BUENAVENTURA BOULEVARD (A-8-97).
WHEREAS:
A. That portion of the Canyon Creek Road right-of-way south of its intersection with the
new Buenaventura Boulevard, as described in Exhibit A and shown crosshatched on the map attached
hereto and made a part hereof, hereafter called "Area of Abandonment," was acquired by succession
from the County of Shasta.
B. In order to accommodate the realignment of Westside Road (the Westside Road
Realignment Project), the Area of Abandonment must be vacated.
C. The Director of Public Works has investigated the proposed vacation, and has advised
the City Council that upon completion of the Westside Road realignment between Buenaventura
Boulevard and Westside Road, the Area of Abandonment—subject to the conditions hereinafter set
forth—will no longer be required.
D. The Planning Commission of the City of Redding held a public hearing regarding the
proposed vacation, and at the conclusion of the hearing recommended that, subject to the conditions
hereinafter set forth, the Area of Abandonment be vacated.
E. The City Council, on January 20, 1998, adopted Resolution No. 98-8, setting a public
hearing on February 17, 1988, regarding the proposed vacation.
F. The City Council wishes to repeal Resolution 98-8 and set the public hearing on
March 17, 1998.
G. The City Council elects to proceed in this matter under the provisions of the Public
Streets, Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law as set forth in Section 8300, et seq., of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, with the provision that this resolution shall be
deemed a Resolution of Intention;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
l. The foregoing recitals are true and correct.
2. Resolution No. 98-8 is repealed. �
3. The City Council elects to proceed in this matter under the provisions of the Public Streets, �
Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law as set forth in Section 8300, et seq., of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California �

4. When the realignment of Westside Road is completed, the proposed Area of Abandonment will
not be needed for public use. Therefore, the City Council intends to and hereby declares its
intention to vacate that portion of the Canyon Creek Road right-of-way south of its intersection
with the new Buenaventura Boulevard, as described in Exhibit A and shown crosshatched on the
map attached hereto (Area of Abandonment), SUBJECT TO THE CONDITION that this
abandonment shall not become effective until the following have occurred:
(a) The completion of the Westside Road realignment between Buenaventura
Boulevard and Westside Road; and
(b) The retention of a public service easement over the entire Area of Abandonment.
5. All persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation will be heard on Tuesday,
March 17, 1998, at the hour of 7 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the
City Council Chambers located at 1313 California Street, Redding, California.
6. The Director of Public Works is hereby instructed to post or cause to be conspicuously posted
notices of vacation along the Area of Abandonment proposed to be vacated, as set forth in
Section 8323 of the Streets and Highways Code. The notices shall set forth the adoption of this
resolution of intention, and the date, hour and place of the hearing as hereinabove set forth. At
least three such notices shall be posted in the manner set forth above, and the posting of the
notices shall be completed at least two weeks prior to the date of the hearing.
7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution of intention, and
cause the same to be published once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Redding
at least 15 days before the date set for the public hearing of protests to the aforesaid proposed
vacation.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council on the 17th day of February, 1998, by the following vote:

REDDING AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE NEW
VEHICLE FOR TI�ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT THROUGH THE
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORivIA.
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes the
Procurement Division of the Department of General Services of the State of California to purchase one
'/z ton, 4x4, short-bed pickup for and on behalf of the City of Redding pursuant to Public Contract Code
Section 10324.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Purchasing Officer is authorized and directed to sign
and deliver all necessary requests and other documentation in connection therewith for and on behalf
of the City of Redding.
