HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 98-005 - Rescinding Reso 97-212 & requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Shasta to consolidate a General Municipal Elect to be held on 04/14/98 with Enterprise ES District Bond Measure & Gateway USD bond Measure , � - i � RESOLUTION NO. �p=.5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 97-212 AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SHASTA TO CONSOLiDATE A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON APRIL 14, 1998, WITH THE ENTERPRISE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND MEASURE AND GATEWAY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND MEASURE ELECTiONS TO BE HELD ON THAT DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redding called a General Municipal Election to be held on April 14, 1998, for the purpose of the election of three 1Vlembers of the City Council and a City Clerk; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the General Municipal Election be consolidated with the Enterprise Elementary School District Bond Measure and Gateway Unified School District Bond Measure elections to be held on the same date and that within the City the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same. WHEREAS, it is requested that the County Elections Department of the County of Shasta canvass the returns of the General Municipal Election and that the election be held in all respects as if there were only one election. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding that: 1. Resolution No. 97-212 adopted on December 2, 1997, requesting certain election services, be rescinded in its entirety; � 2. Pursuant to the requirements of Section l 0403.5 of the Elections Code, the Board of � � Supervisors of the County of Shasta is hereby requested to consent and agree to the consolidation � � of a General Municipal Election with the Enterprise Elementary School District Bond Measure and � � Gateway Unified School District Bond Measure election on Tuesday, April 14, 1998, for the purpose ... a, � • of the election of three Members of the City Council and a City Clerk; 3. County Elections Department is authorized to canvass the returns of the General Municipal Election. The election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used; 4. Board of Supervisors is requested to issue instructions to the County Elections Department to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of the consolidated election; 5. City of Redding shall reimburse the County for services performed upon presentation to the City of a properly-approved invoice; and 6. City Clerk is directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the County Elections Department of the County of Shasta.
