A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THEol
RM CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING CULLEN C. KREIDER
FOR 27 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING DEDICATED SERVICE TO
THE CITY OF REDDING
WHEREAS, Cullen C. Kreider is a 27-year veteran of the Redding Fire Department beginning in
February 1993; and during his tenure,was promoted through the ranks as Fire Engineer,Captain, Battalion Chief,
Deputy Chief and achieved the title of Fire Chief in 2018; and
WHEREAS, Cullen C. Kreider is the only Redding Fire Department Fire Chief to have moved through
the ranks of the department beginning as a student Firefighter; and
WHEREAS, Cullen C. Kreider worked two years as a student Firefighter with the City of Redding Fire
Department prior to being hired by Cal Fire, formerly California Department of Forestry, serving three years,
then being hired by the City of El Dorado Hills Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Cullen C.Kreider earned an Associate of Science in Fire Science, and a Bachelor of Science
in Fire Administration from Cogswell Polytechnical College, has completed the Fire Officer Certification and
Chief Fire Officer Certification through the California State Board of Fire Services; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Redding Fire Department, Cullen C. Kreider's proactive position
on firefighting and public safety is evidenced by the many programs he has instituted or participated in, such as:
♦ Obtaining unanimous City Council approval to hire 19 Firefighters
♦ Development of Active Shooter Emergency Protocols
♦ Redding Electric Utility Wildfire Mitigation Plan
♦ Obtaining unanimous City Council approval to hire an Assistant Fire Marshal
♦ City of Redding Carr Fire Suppression Efforts
WHEREAS,in addition to his busy schedule as Redding Fire Chief, Chief Kreider has also demonstrated
outstanding community leadership in the following areas:
♦ Shasta County Youth Options (Formerly known as the Youth Violence Prevention Council of
Shasta County), Board Member
♦ Shasta County Fire Chiefs' Association,Vice President
♦ SHIELD Training Center, Founding Board Member
♦ California Fire Chiefs' Association Board Member
♦ Redding Fire and Police Chaplains Board Member
♦ SHASCOM Board Member
WHEREAS, in performance of his duties and responsibilities, Chief Kreider has always served the City
of Redding with pride, professionalism and distinction while providing a high level of public safety for the
community and its citizens; and in recognition of his exemplary leadership skills;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby
expresses its deep appreciation to Fire Chief Cullen C. Kreider for his dedication, enthusiasm, and the countless
and long-lasting contributions he has made to Shasta County, the City of Redding, and its citizens, and wishes
him future success and happiness as he retires from public service.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Redding on the 18th day of August, 2020, and was duly adopted at said meeting by the
following vote:
