HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 98-031 - Designating April 13 Through April 19, 1998, As " Kool April Nites" week � � RESOLUTION NO. 98- � A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING DESIGNATING APRIL 13 THROUGH APRIL 19, 1998, AS "KOOL APRIL NITES" WEEK WHEREAS, "Kool April Nites" was established in 1990 by a group of local businessmen and women dedicated to promoting their community through an appreciation of classic, collectible automobiles, and sought to develop an event which would attract local citizens and tourists of all ages; and WHEREAS, "Koal April Nites" has become one of Redding's largest and best attended City- wide events, featuring cars of all types which assemble annually at the Redding Convention Center to participate in the north state's largest automotive festival; and WHEREAS, the profits generated by this event are dedicated each year to benefit child- oriented charities in the north state, the Turtle Bay Park and Museum, and education outreach programs of science, art & history, and forestry; and WHEREAS, the economical impact of this popular event, with thousands of guests staying the weekend in local motels, dining in restaurants, and purchasing goods from local retail merchants, is estimated to be in the millions of dollars; and WHEREAS, local businesses are provided the opportunity to promote themselves and their products through the "Kool April Nites" vending area which displays goods and services of all types to thousands of spectators enjoying the weekend activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby expresses its strong support and best wishes for success for the 9th Annual "Kool April Nites" Car Show and Competition, and encourages everyone to support "Kool April Nites" week in Redding by enjoying this wonderful family-oriented community event.
