A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
IDENTIFYING THE CENSUS TRACTS COMPRISING A "TARGETED
EMPLOYMENT AREA" FOR THE SHASTA METRO ENTERPRISE ZONE
WHEREAS, on November 6, 1991, and Enterprise Zone was established in the City of
Redding pursuant to the Enterprise Zone Act(Government Code Sections 7070, et seq.)as adopted
by the State of California in 1984; and
WHEREAS, in 1996, by Senate Bill No. 2023, the State revised the Enterprise Zone Act,
commencing on January 1, 1997, to provide for, among other things, establishment of"targeted
employment areas" composed of census tracks having at least 51 percent of their residents at low or
moderate income levels with the purpose of encouraging businesses in an enterprise zone to hire
eligible residents of those geographic areas of the City most in need of employment targeting; and
WHEREAS, the Enterprise Zone Act as thus revised allows the City Council of the City of
Redding to designate those census tracts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding as
follows:
1. The following census tracts,lying wholly or partly within the territorial jurisdiction ofthe City
of Redding, have been designated by the United States Department of Housing and Urban
Development as having at least 51 percent of their residents of low- and moderate-income
levels and are hereby identified as 101 and 105. A targeted employment area composed of
these census tracts is hereby approved.
2. The inclusion of census tract 120 in the targeted employment area is conditional upon the
consent to the inclusion of said census tract by the City of Anderson.

3. The inclusion of census tracts 116 and 117 in the targeted employment area is conditional �
upon the consent to the inclusion of said census tract by the City of Shasta Lake. �

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular
meeting ofthe City Council of the City of Redding on the 5th day of May 1998,and was
adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
