' • � � RESOLUTION NO. 98-� A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING ADOPTING AN ECONOMIC ATTRACTION SERVICE INTO THE CITY'S ELECTRICAL MUNICIPAL UTILITY SCHEDULE OF RATES. THE ECONOMIC ATTRACTIOI� SERVICE PROVIDES A FLEXIBLE, CUST�MIZED RATE AS AN ECONOMLC DEVELOPMENT TOOL TO ATTRACT MANUFACTURING AND INDUSTRIAL CUSTOMERS TO THE CITY OF REDDING. WHEREAS, Section 16.12.320 of the Redding Municipal Code provides that the City Council shall establish electric utility rates by Resolution; and WHEREAS, for the reasons set forth in the attached Report to City Council, it has been recommended that the City Council adopt a new Economic Attraction Service. This service would be structured as an individualized, negotiated, incentive based rate for prospective manufacturing and industrial customers. Copies of the Economic Attraction Service which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and WHEREAS, the City Council has carefully considered this recommendation, and deems it to be in the best interests of the City of Redding to establish a new Economic Attraction Service, effective , 1998. A new Economic Attraction Service should help stimulate the local economy by attracting new customers and jobs to the City. In addition to contributin� to the economic vitality of the community, manufacturing and industrial companies can contribute significantly to electric revenues. NOW, THEREFORE, I'T IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding, pursuant to the provisions of Section 16.12.320 of the Redding Municipal Code, deems it is in the best interest of the City's Electric Utility customers that the attached Economic Attraction Service be adopted: � i � � � j� N � � � , .
