HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 98-147 - Proclaiming Oct 23 through Oct 31, 1998 "Red Ribbon Week" � � RESOLUTION NO. 98- /�7 A RESOLUTiON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 23 THROUGH 31, 1998, AS "RED RIBBON WEEK" WHEREAS, the purpose of the Red Ribbon Week Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a drug-free America, and signify an attitude of intolerance to the use of illegal drugs and the illegal use of le�al drugs; and WHEREAS, the 1998 theme of the Red Ribbon Campaign in Shasta County is"Drug Free Starts With Me" and thousands will demonstrate their commitment to a dru�-free life style by wearing and displaying red ribbons during this week-long campaign; and WHEREAS, recent reports indicate that drug use and abuse begin at an earlier age, making the challenge to give our youth the chance to be free of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs greater than ever; and � WHEREAS, it is important that the entire community-homes, schools,churches,businesses, and governmental agencies-unite to organize,support,and promote community awareness of tobacco,alcohol and other drug problems and encourage drug-free choices.
