RESOLUTION NO. 98- S
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FIRS'
RESPONDER RESCUE EQUIPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$39,962.73 FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS:
1. On August 19, 1997, by Resolution 97-146, the City Council authorized the acceptance of
a State Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) Grant for first responder rescue equipment in the amount of
$86,155. The scope of the Grant included the purchase and implementation of a second complete set of
vehicle extrication equipment, otherwise known as "Jaws" or hydraulic prying devices.
2. The Fire Department has been using Holmatro vehicle extrication equipment since 1987.
3. In order to improve rescue capabilities and standardize inventories, the Fire Department
recommends purchasing a second complete set of first responder rescue equipment from Santiam
Emergency Equipment, the sole source vendor for Holmatro, Inc. equipment in this area.
4. The City Council has carefully studied this matter, and has determined that this
recommendation is in the best interests of the City.
5. There is no impact on the General Fund as the purchase is fully reimbursable through the
OTS Grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council that the foregoing
recitals are true and correct; and that the formal bidding process be dispensed with pursuant to Redding
