RESOLUTION NO. 99-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITI( COUNCIL OF THE CITI( OF REDDING
REQUESTING FUNDS FROM THE COMMUNITI( GRANTS PROGRAM TO
IMPLEMENT PROGRAMSAIMEDATTHE PREVENTION OFSUBSTANCEABUSE
AND FAMILY VIOLENCE IN TFiE MARTIN LUTHER KING NEIGHBORHOOD
WHEREAS, the City realizes the importance of establishing partnerships to resolve
problems in our community; and
WHEREAS, adults and youth of the Martin Luther King neighborhood will provide input
related to program needs that address social issues including prevention of substance abuse and
family violence; and
WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King Center currently serves as an important resource center
in this neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, the addition of these programs will enhance the existing effarts of the Martin
Luther King Center; and
WHEREAS, grant funding is available to provide for the full cost of such enhancements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding
requests that the Health Improvement Partnership (HIP) provide the sum of $60,000 for the
purpose of a neighborhood-based program designated to address family violence and substance
abuse issues.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 16th day of November , 1999,
by the following vote:

NOES; COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
