A RE50LUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDDING EXPRESSING OUTRAGE AT HATE CRIMES,
EXPRESSING 5YMPATHY FOR VICTIMS OF HATE CRIMES AND
THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS, AND URGING TOLERANCE
WITHIN THIS NATION AND COMMUNITY
WHEREA5, recent hate crimes throughout the nation, and in Shasta County have created outrage
among decent people throughout the nation and in Shasta County; and
WHEREAS,victims of hate crimes,their families and their friends deserve the support,sympathy and
encouragement of their communities; and
WHEREAS,tolerance of others who are different froin ourselves should be encouraged, and
WHEREAS, protection of all of our citizens is of paramount importance to the citizens of Redding.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redding does hereby:
• express its profound outrage at hate crimes.
• eYpress its support,sympathy and encouragement for victims of hate crimes and their families
and friends. and
• encourage tolerance throughout our conununity and nation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of August , 1999, by the following vote:
AYES: Cibula, Kight, McGeorge, Pohlmeyer and Anderson
