A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
SUMMARILY VACATING PORTION OF BECHELLI LANE
(ABANDONMENT APPLICATION A-2020-00620)
WHEREAS:
A. The portion of Bechelli Street being considered for summary vacation was acquired in
the Order of Annexation Resolution 79-230 on March 12, 1980. Shasta County acquired
this portion by a resolution of relinquishment from the State of California as recorded on
November 1, 1966 in Book 901 at Page 382, Official Records of Shasta County.
B. The portions of the street rights-of-way have not been used for the purposes for which
they were acquired and have been determined to be excess. Therefore, the owner of the
property has asked that the City vacate the portions of street right-of-way described as in
Exhibit "A" and shown on Exhibit `B" attached and made a part hereof by reference.
C. A fifteen foot (15') wide easement for drainage and incidental purposes in favor of the
State of California as recorded on November 16, 1966 in Book 901 at Page 382, Official
Records of Shasta County.
D. The street closure falls within the criteria of CEQA Section 15305 and is categorically
exempt.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL DETERMINES, RESOLVES, AND
ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council elects to proceed in this matter under the provisions of the California
Streets and Highways Code, Section 8334.

2. The City Council approves the request to summarily vacate the portions of right-of-way
as described in Exhibit "A" and shown on Exhibit `13," attached.
3. All public facilities in use at the time of the adoption of this resolution are reserved and
excepted from this vacation and any easement and right necessary to maintain, operate,
replace, remove, or renew the public utility facilities is hereby reserved.
4. The portions of street rights-of-way have not been used for the purposes for which they
were acquired and are determined to be excess.
5. This proposed vacation would not result in any significant environmental impacts and
falls within the criteria of a CEQA Section 15305 and is categorically exempt.
6. The City Clerk is directed to cause a certified copy of this resolution of vacation, attested
by the Clerk under seal, to be recorded in the office of the Shasta County
Assessor/Recorder.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 19th day of May, 2020, by the

described as follows:
Being a portion of land located in the Southwest One -Quarter of Section 17, Township 31 North, Range 4
West, M.D.M., in the City of Redding, Shasta County, State of California, more particularly described as
follows:
All that portion of Bechelli Lane (formerly County Road II -Sha -3 -AB) as described in that certain
Relinquishment of Highways Right of Way in the County of Shasta, Road 02 -SHA -5 -6.8R -18.8R Request
No. 10003 recorded November 30, 1966 in Book 901 at Page 382, Official Records of Shasta County and
being a portion of Location 8 indicated by shading on those certain maps filed for record April 19, 1965
in State Highway Map Book 7 at pages 8 through 27, inclusive, Shasta County Records, more particularly
described as follows:
Beginning at the Southerly most corner of that 0.32 acre parcel described in that Grant Deed to the City
of Redding recorded on July 21, 1977 in Book 1442 at Page 546, Official Records of Shasta County and
being a point on the Westerly line of Parcel 1-A as described in the Final Order of Condemnation
recorded September 12, 1963 in Book 758 at Page 224, Official Records of Shasta County; thence South
14°57'42" East along said Westerly line a distance of 158.61 feet; thence continuing along said Westerly
line South 13°19'10 East a distance of 144.62 feet more or less to a point on the Southerly line of Section
17 and being the Southeasterly corner of Parcel 1-C as described in said Final Order of Condemnation;
thence South 89°42'31" East along the Southerly line of said Section 17 a distance of 61.73 feet to a
