A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
REQUESTING THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF SHASTA CONSOLIDATE A GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION ON
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020
WHEREAS, pursuant to Redding Municipal Code Section 2.17.010, the City of
Redding's general municipal election shall be held on Tuesday,November 3, 2020; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that the general municipal election be consolidated with the
statewide general election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, and that within the City,
that precincts, polling places, and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the
Shasta County Election Department canvass the returns of the general municipal election, and
that the election be held in all respects as if there were only one election;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER,
AS FOLLOWS:
1. Pursuant to the requirements of Elections Code Section 10403:
(a) The Board of Supervisors of the County of Shasta is hereby requested to consent
and agree to the consolidation of a general municipal election with the statewide
general election on Tuesday,November 3, 2020.
(b) The offices to be voted upon at the election on Tuesday,November 3, 2020, are as
follows:
Two open seats of the City of Redding City Council, the positions are for
a four-year term.
- City Treasurer, the position is for a four-year term.
Any ballot measure that may be approved by the date as set forth in
Elections Code Section 10403.
(c) The consolidated election will be held and conducted in a manner prescribed in
Elections Code Section 10418.
2. The County Election Department is authorized to canvass the returns of the general
municipal election, The Election shall be held in all respects as if there was only one
election and only one form of ballot shall be used.
3. The Board of Supervisors is requested to issue instructions to the County Election
Department to take any and all steps necessary for holding the consolidated election.
4. The City recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this
consolidation, and agrees to reimburse the County for the City's share of all reasonable
costs.
5. The City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board
of Supervisors and the County Elections Department of the County of Shasta.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 16th day of June, 2020, by the
following vote:

NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
