HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 2621 - Shasta Mosquito & Vector Control Dist appointee qualifications ORDINANCE NO. 2621 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDDING AMENDING TITLE 2 (ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL), CHAPTER 2.73 (MISCELLANEOUS BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND REPRESENTATIVES), SECTION 2.73.050 (SHASTA COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT) OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE IN ORDER TO AMEND THE QUALIFICATIONS AND TERM OF OFFICE FOR APPOINTEES TO THE SHASTA MOSQUITO AND VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT THE CITY COUNCIL FO THE CITY OF REDDING DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Title 2 (Administration and Personnel), Chapter 2.73 (Miscellaneous Boards, Committees and Representatives), Section 2.73.050 of the Redding Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.73.050 • Shasta Mosquito and Vector Control District. Subject to the approval of a majority of the City Council, the Mayor shall appoint one representative to the Board of Directors of the Shasta Mosquito and Vector Control District ("District"). Said appointee shall be a registered voter in the City of Redding and a resident within the jurisdictional boundaries of the District. When feasible, the appointee should have experience, training, and education in a field which will assist in the governance of the District. Pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 2024, the term of office for the appointee shall be four years commencing at noon on the first Monday in January. Section 2. Severability. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance. The City Council of the City of Redding hereby declares that it would have passed this ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and phrase thereof irrespective of the fact that one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases may be held invalid or unconstitutional. Section 3. The passage of this ordinance is not a "project" according to the definition in the California Environmental Quality Act, and therefore is not subject to the provisions requiring environmental review. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after the date of its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption thereof and cause publication according to law.
