AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AMENDING PORTIONS OF REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 6.32, VEHICLES FOR HIRE. The City Council of the City of Redding does ordain as follows: Section 1. Redding Municipal Code Chapter 6 . 32, Vehicles for Hire, is hereby amended by: A. Repealing Section 6 . 32. 020, and adding a new Section 6. 32. 020 as follows: 6 . 32. 020 Owner' s permit—Taxicabs and limousines. No individual or company shall operate any automobiles for hire on or over any streets of the city without having first obtained approval from the city clerk. B. Repealing Section 6. 32.030 entitled Owner' s Permit— Prerequisites—Issuance. C. In Section 6. 32 . 040, Owner' s Permit—Fee, by changing Section 6.04. 220 to read Section 6.04 . 200. D. Repealing Section 6. 32 .050, and adding a new Section 6. 32 . 050 as follows: 6 . 32. 050 Owner' s Permit—Expiration. Any permit issued under this chapter shall expire at the end of the calendar year in which it is issued; provided that the license fee therefor is paid in accordance with .the provisions of this chapter. Unless suspended or revoked, it shall be renewed upon application for renewal within 30 days of expiration. E. Repealing the first paragraph of Section 6 . 32. 070, and adding a new first paragraph as follows: 6. 32. 070 Owner' s permit—Qualifications. The owner' s permit required by this chapter shall be granted in writing by the city clerk, upon a satisfactory showing by the applicant that: F. Adding subsection D. to Section 6. 32. 070, as follows: D. If the vehicle is a limousine, it must be licensed by the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) ; and the applicant must provide proof to the satisfaction of the City Clerk that he has a valid license issued by the PUC. G. Repealing subsection C of Section 6. 32 . 090, and adding a new subsection C as follows: 6. 32 . 090 Insurance Requirements. C. A certificate evidencing such insurance shall be filed with the risk manager. H. Repealing the first paragraph of Section 6 . 32. 100, and adding a new first paragraph as follows: 6 . 32. 100 Owner' s permit—Revocation—Grounds. The owner' s permit required by this chapter may be revoked or suspended if it appears that any of the following conditions exist: I . Repealing Section 6 . 32. 110, and adding a new Section 6. 32.110 as follows: 6. 32 . 110 Owner' s permit—Revocation—Investigation. For the purpose of ascertaining whether any cause exists for the suspension or revocation of an owner' s permit under this chapter, the chief of police may, or upon complaint shall, cause strict inquiry to be made into the conduct of the permittee, the sufficiency and validity of his security, and the conditions of his vehicle or vehicles. J. Repealing Section 6. 32. 120, and adding a new Section 6.32. 120 as follows: 6 . 32. 120 Owner' s permit—Transferability. Any owner' s permit issued under the provisions of this chapter may be sold, assigned, leased, transferred, or inherited as other property only upon authorization of the city clerk. 2 K. In Section 6 . 32 .210, Driver' s Permit—Fee, by changing Section 6.04. 230 to read Section 6. 04. 210. Section 2 . All other provisions of Chapter 6 . 32 remain in full force and effect, including subparagraphs. Section 3 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause its publication according to law.
