AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDDING AMENDING SUBSECTION B.2.
OF REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 10.20.040
POSSESSION OR CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES IN CITY PARKS.
Section 1. Subsection B.2. of Section 10.20.040(Possession or Consumption of
Alcoholic Beverages in City Parks) of Redding Municipal Code Title 10 (Public Peace, Morals
and Welfare) is amended to read as follows:
B. 2. This prohibition shall not apply within the interiors of the following
buildings:
Carter House Museum
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Center Building
Redding Museum and Art Center
Senior Citizens Hall
or within:
Alta Mesa Park
Caldwell Memorial Park
Enterprise Community Park
Lake Redding Park
Library Park
Riverfront Park
Softball Park
South City Park
during such times as sponsored events are taking place within the confines of such
buildings and parks; provided that if alcoholic beverages are to be served within
such buildings or parks, the sponsor of the event has:
a. First complied with the provisions of Section 2.56.120; appeals from
decisions of the director of community services shall be made directly to
the city council;
b. First complied with Chapter 11.44 - Special Events;
C. Obtained any necessary alcoholic beverage control permit for the event; the
consent required to be submitted to permitting authority may be given by
the city manager;

d. Posted with the city clerk a damage and cleanup deposit in the sum of three
hundred dollars;
e. Filed with the risk manager a certificate evidencing public liability
insurance coverage for the event in the form and amount approved by the
risk manager; and
f. First complied with the provisions of Resolution No. 4148 and any
amendments thereto on file in the office of the city clerk relating to the use
of parks and recreation areas.
Section 2. The passage of this ordinance is not a "project"according to the definition
in the California Environmental Quality Act, and therefore is not subject to the provisions
requiring environmental review.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect 30 days after the date of its adoption, and
the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption thereof and cause its publication according to law.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that this ordinance was introduced and read at a regular meeting of
the City Council on the 16th day of June , 1998; and was read and adopted at a regular meeting
of the City Council on the 7th day of July , 1998, by the following vote:
