HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2019-107 - Commend Chief MooreRESOLUTION NO 2019-107 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING COMMENDING ROGER L. MOORE FOR 24 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF REDDING WHEREAS, Roger L. Moore is a 24 -year veteran of the Redding Police Department beginning in June 1995; and during his tenure, was promoted through the ranks as Patrol Officer, Investigator, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Police Lieutenant, Police Captain, and achieved the title of Chief of Police in 2017; and WHEREAS, Roger L. Moore worked for the Redding Police Department as a Police Cadet prior to being hired by the Shasta County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy, then by being hired by the Watsonville Police Department as a Police Officer, and returned to the Redding Police Department in 1995 as a Police Officer; and WHEREAS, Roger L. Moore earned an Associate of Arts degree from Shasta College, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simpson University, and a Master's degree from National University, has undergone extensive training through the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; and WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Redding Police Department, Roger L. Moore's proactive position on policing and public safety is evidenced by the many programs he has instituted or participated in, such as: ♦ Neighborhood Police Unit ♦ Field Training Officer ♦ Special Weapons and Tactics Team Member ♦ Financial Crimes Investigator ♦ Explorer Post ♦ Peer Support Team ♦ Terrorism Liaison Coordinator ♦ Social Media Team ♦ Chaplain Program WHEREAS, in addition to his busy schedule as Chief of Police, Chief Moore has also demonstrated outstanding community leadership in the following areas: ♦ Shasta County Youth Options (Formerly known as the Youth Violence Prevention Council of Shasta County) ♦ Children's Legacy Center ♦ Shasta Regional Medical Center Board of Directors ♦ Shasta County Citizens Advocating Respect ♦ Simpson University Community Advisory Council WHEREAS, in performance of his duties and responsibilities, Chief Moore has always served the City of Redding with pride, professionalism and distinction while providing a high level of public safety for the community and its citizens; and in recognition of his exemplary leadership skills; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby expresses its deep appreciation to Police Chief Roger L. Moore for his dedication, enthusiasm, and the countless and long-lasting contributions he has made to Shasta County, the City of Redding, and its citizens, and wishes him future success and happiness as he retires from public service.
