RESOLUTION NO. 2019-064
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
SUMMARILY VACATING A REMAINING PORTION OF CENTER
STREET AND A PORTION OF SHASTA STREET (ABANDONMENT
APPLICATION A-2019-00752)
WHEREAS:
A. The portion of Center Street being considered for summary vacation was excepted from
the abandonment of Center Street on June 4, 1964 by Redding City Council Resolution
No 3297; The portion of Shasta Street being considered for summary vacation was
originally defined on the Original Town of Redding Map (Old Plat 65).
B. The portions of the street rights-of-way have not been used for the purposes for which
they were dedicated and have been determined to be excess. Therefore, the owner of the
property has asked that the City vacate the portions of street right-of-way described as
Parcel 1 and Parcel 2 in Exhibit "A" and shown on Exhibit "B" attached and made a part
hereof by reference.
C. The City is retaining a 6.00 foot wide utility easement which was granted to the City in
that Easement Grant Deed recorded on June 23, 1964 in Book 793 at Page 404, Shasta
County Records.
D. The street closure falls within the criteria of CEQA Section 15305 and is categorically
exempt.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL DETERMINES, RESOLVES, AND
ORDERS AS FOLLOWS: G
1. The City Council elects to proceed in this matter under the provisions of the California
Streets and Highways Code, Section 8334. C-
2. The City Council approves the request to summarily vacate the portions of right-of-way
as described in Exhibit "A" and shown on Exhibit "B" and retain the existing 6 foot wide
Utility Easement.
3. The portions of street rights-of-way have not been used for the purposes for which they
were dedicated and are determined to be excess.
4. This proposed vacation would not result in any significant environmental impacts and
falls within the criteria of a CEQA Section 15305 and is categorically exempt.
5. The City Clerk is directed to cause a certified copy of this resolution of vacation, attested
by the Clerk under seal, to be recorded in the office of the Shasta County
Assessor/Recorder.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the Redding City Council on the 16th day of July, 2019, by the following
vote:

EXHIBIT "A"
Description
All that real property being a portion of Section 10, of the P.B. Reading Grant in the City of
Redding, County of Shasta, State of California, being more particularly described as
follows:
PARCEL 1
All that certain strip of land 12 feet in width, for right-of-way and public utilities being
described as that exception in Resolution No. 3297 of the City Council of the City of
Redding recorded on June 5, 1964 in Book 791 Page 271, Official Records of Shasta
County, being a portion of Block 13 of the Original Town of Redding as per map thereof
filed for record in Book of Old Plats at page 65, Shasta County Records.
Together with that entire portion of that 6.00 foot wide strip of land for permanent
Easement and right of way purposes as described in that Easement Deed to the City of
Redding, recorded on June 23, 1964 in Book 793 Page 404, Official Records of Shasta
County.
PARCEL 2
All that certain strip of land being 1.00 foot wide for street purposes being a portion of
Shasta Street as shown on said map of the Original Town of Redding as per map thereof
filed for record on Book of Old Plats at page 65, Shasta County records being more
particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the Northeast corner of said Block 13 said corner being the Southwest corner
of the right-of-way intersection of Shasta Street and California Street and thence on and
along the northerly line of said Block 13 South 72° 40' 00" West, 101.00 feet;
Thence leaving said northerly line and at a right angle North 17° 20' 00" West, 1.00 foot;
Thence parallel with said Northerly line North 72° 40' 00" East, 101.00 feet;
Thence at a right angle South 17° 20' 00" East, 1.00 foot to the Point of Beginning.
