HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2019-004 - IBEW RESOLUTION NO. 2019-004 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING CERTIFYING THE UNIT MODIFICATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS LOCAL UNION 1245 AFL-CIO MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEES UNIT, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 15, 2019 WHEREAS, the City received a petition for unit modification of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 1245 AFL-CIO Maintenance Employees Unit (IBEW Maintenance Unit) acknowledging the IBEW Maintenance Unit as the Exclusively Recognized Employee Organization for the classifications of Utility Specialist I/II in accordance with the City of Redding's Employer-Employee Relations Resolution and the Meyers-Milias- Brown Act; and WHEREAS, the petition was in compliance with the requirements of Article II, Section 7, of the Employer-Employee Relations Resolution and the proposed unit modification petition conforms to the requirements of Article II, Sections 1 and 4, of the Employer-Employee Relations Resolution; and WHEREAS, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 1245 AFL- CIO Maintenance Employees Unit certified that the three employees holding regular full-time positions within the covered classifications voted in favor of the unit modification and subsequent recognition; and WHEREAS, staff has recommended that the City Council formally certify and recognize the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 1245 AFL-CIO Maintenance Employees Unit as the Exclusively Recognized Employee Organization for the classifications of Utility Specialist I/II in accordance with the City of Redding's Employer-Employee Relations Resolution and the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, effective January 15, 2019; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City to adopt such recommendation; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council that Council certifies and recognizes the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 1245 AFL-CIO Maintenance Employees Unit as the Exclusively Recognized Employee Organization for the classifications of Utility Specialist I/II in accordance with the City of Redding's Employer-Employee Relations Resolution and the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, effective January 15, 2019.
