A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING AUTHORIZING THE CITY, THROUGH ITS
ELECTRIC UTILITY, TO APPLY FOR AN ENERGY-
EFFICIENCY GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY
COMMISSION FOR REDDING'S LIGHT-EMITTING
DIODES TRAFFIC LIGHT CONVERSION PROJECT.
WHEREAS,the California Energy Commission(CEC)provides grants to finance energy-
efficiency projects that will reduce peak electricity demand.
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding that:
1. The Council authorizes the City of Redding, through its Electric Utility, to apply for
grant funding from the CEC to replace incandescent traffic signals with those using light-emitting
diodes.
2. If recommended for funding by the CEC, the Council authorizes the Electric Utility
accept a grant, on behalf of the City of Redding, of up to $200,000 for Redding's Light-Emitting
Diodes Traffic Light Conversion Project.
3. The Electric Utility Director is authorized to execute the name of the Electric Utility on
all necessary documents to implement and carry out the purpose of this resolution,and to undertake
all actions necessary to undertake and complete the energy-efficiency projects;and the City Clerk is
directed to attest his signature on the appropriate documentation.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at
a regular meeting of the Redding City Council on the 5th day of December, 2000 by the
following vote:
