HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2000-191 - Robert C. Anderson RESOLUTION NO.X900 — r 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING HONORING ROBERT C. ANDERSON WHEREAS, Robert C. Anderson served on the City Council from January 20, 1969 to March 14, 1978,and from April 21, 1992,to December 5,2000, for a total of 17 years, 71/2 months of service; and WHEREAS,during this time,Robert C.Anderson served as Mayor on two occasions–April 19, 1994, to April 18, 1995, and January 5, 1999,to December 5, 2000; and WHEREAS,Robert C.Anderson has unselfishly given of his time away from his family for the betterment of the Redding community; and WHEREAS, Robert C. Anderson has provided the leadership in establishing and/or completing the following projects: • A 10-year financial plan for the City • Midtown Mall, Dana Drive, SHASTEC, and Oasis Redevelopment Project Areas which have or will fund millions of dollars in improvements to the community • SHASCOM Joint Powers Agency for improved dispatching services • New General Plan • Lake Redding Bridge • Various Downtown Improvements • Enterprise Park • Turtle Bay Arboretum and Museum • Sports Complex • New Corporation Yard and Transfer Station • New Management Team for the City • Annexed two islands • Extended the Sacramento River Trail • South Bonnyview Bridge • Downtown Demonstration Block • RABA Intermodal Facility • RABA Maintenance Facility • A well-funded and efficiently operated electric utility providing ever decreasing rates for its customers while other electric utilities struggle with increasing rates • Crime statistics decreased each of the last three years WHEREAS,the beautiful$20 million Civic Center would not have been built were it not for Robert C. Anderson's efforts and leadership, and the City seal displayed on the new Council Chambers building and in the lobby were the inspiration of Robert C. Anderson; and WHEREAS,since 1992,Redding has boasted a 10%increase in population or about 8,000 people; and WHEREAS, through all the capital projects and improved employee services, Robert C. Anderson leaves the City in better financial shape than it has been in the last 30 years. NOW,THEREFORE,LET IT BE RESOLVED that this City Council and previous City Councils pay tribute to a man whom we respect and admire for his leadership capabilities and for his a dedication. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the past,present,and future citizens of Redding owe Robert C. Anderson a debt of gratitude for the years he has served as City Council Member and Mayor of the City of Redding.
