A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING SUPPORTING THE CONCEPTS AND EFFORTS OF
THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL IN A TRAFFIC STOP
DEMOGRAPHIC DATA COLLECTION GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS:
A. The California Highway Patrol has received grant funds to distribute monies to those participating
California local law enforcement agencies to offset the costs created by traffic stop demographic data
collection;
B. The City of Redding is located within the geographic area where data collection is to occur;
C. The grant allows funds for California local law enforcement; and
D. The collecting of demographic data is important in acting as a deterrent to racial profiling.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding strongly
supports the collection of traffic stop demographic data.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced,read and adopted at a regular
meeting of the City Council on the 19thday of September, 2000, by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Cibula, McGeorge, Pohlmeyer and Anderson
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Kight
ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
