A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF THREE (3) FEDERAL GRANT APPLI-
CATIONS FOR ENTITLEMENT/DISCRETIONARY AIRPORT
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AIP) GRANT MONIES TO ACCOMPLISH
CAPITAL PROJECTS AT REDDING MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AND
BENTON AIRPARK, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE APPLICATIONS AND ALL SUBSEQUENT
DOCUMENTATION TO OBTAIN FAA AND STATE GRANT MONIES.
WHEREAS, the FAA District Office has recommended that applications for
unencumbered Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Entitlement and Discretionary Funds be
submitted as soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, the Airports Manager has recommended that the City apply for three (3)
U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, AIP Grants in the amount
of $3,150,000 to accomplish the projects outlined in Exhibit "A" attached and made a part
hereof; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the projects is estimated at $3,500,000, of which 90% is
eligible for AIP Entitlement/Discretionary Funds,!0% of the Municipal portion is eligible for
usage of Passenger Facility Charges ($345,000), 4.5% of the Benton portion is eligible for State
of California Grant Funds ($2,250), and the remaining 5.5% of the Benton portion will be paid
through the Airports Fund ($2,750); and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that the Federal AIP Grants
be acquired;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that for the projects outlined in Exhibit "A"
the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes:
1. The filing of three (3) applications for FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP)
Grants in the amount of $3,150,000 and the utilization of Passenger Facility Charges in the
amount of$345,000; a State of California Grant in the amount of$2,250; the remaining $2,750
to be paid through Airports Fund;
2. The City Manager, on behalf of the City of Redding, to execute the FAA Application
form, including the Acceptance of the Grant/Offer, to obtain the necessary FAA and State
funding to complete the projects as identified in Exhibit A; and

3. The City Clerk to attest the signature of the City Manager, and to impress the official
seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read and adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council on the 18th day of July , 2000 by the following
vote:
