HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2000-115 - Solid Waste Utility Rates V r RESOLUTION NO. 2000- // SJ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING FURTHER AMENDING AND RESTATING THE NEW SOLID WASTE UTILITY RATES AND CHARGES, EFFECTIVE JULY 1ST OF THE YEARS 1999 THROUGH 2003. WHEREAS: A. On May 3, 1999, by Resolution 99-67, the City Council adopted new Solid Waste Utility Rates and Charges effective July 1"of the years 1999 through 2003. B. On June 15, 1999, by Resolution 99-84, the Solid Waste Rate Schedule was amended and restated by adding rates for accepting large or heavy loads at the transfer station, and other technical modifications. C. On October 5, 1999, by Resolution 99-133, the Solid Waste Rate Schedule was further amended and restated by adding rates for accepting large or heavy loads at the transfer station, and other technical modifications. D. The Solid Waste Utility intends to establish a program to divert used computer equipment from the landfill; and it is recommended that the Utility establish a handling fee to recover the cost of collecting and disposing of the used computer equipment and the removal and disposal of toner. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council further amends and restates the Solid Waste Rate Schedule by incorporating therein Section L, paragraph 11, entitled Computer Recovery Charges, as set forth in Exhibit A attached and made a part hereof by reference. Leonard Wingate, ty Attorney 1 SOLID WASTE RATE SCHEDULE L. Transfer Station Fees, Charges, and Guidelines 11. Computer Recovery Charges. The Solid Waste Utility shall establish a handling fee to recover the cost of collecting and disposing of used computer equipment and the removal and disposal of toner. The costs will be based on the price that the City can negotiate for the purchase of used computer equipment plus labor, materials, storage, handling, and marketing costs when the City can find a buyer that will pay for the used equipment. Capital cost for site development will not be included in the fees. In the event the City has to pay a recycler to take the used equipment, the fees will be discontinued and the used equipment shall be treated and charged the same fee as waste going to the landfill.
