RESOLUTION NO. 2000- /D 3
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE
IN THE CONSOLIDATED GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD IN REDDING ON TUESDAY,NOVEMBER 7,2000,PERTAINING TO
MATERIALS SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORATE AND THE COSTS
THEREOF
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding,in compliance with Section
13307 of the Elections Code of California,does hereby set forth the following regulations applicable
to a candidates's statement of qualifications to be followed by the City of Redding.
Section 1. Each candidate for elective office in the City of Redding may prepare a
statement of qualifications on an appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. Such form may
include the name, age, and occupation of the candidate and a brief description(not more than 200
words)of the candidates's education and qualifications as expressed by the candidate personally.
Section 2. Such statement shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk when the
nomination papers are returned for filing.
Section 3. A sample ballot and a voter's pamphlet which contain the written statement
of each candidate's qualifications as filed by the candidate shall be mailed by Shasta County on behalf
of the City of Redding to each voter.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall estimate the maximum total cost of the printing, handling,
and mailing of the candidates'statements,including costs incurred as a result of complying with the
Voting Rights Act of 1965,as amended;and shall require each candidate filing a statement to pay his
or her pro rata share of the estimated total cost at the time of filing, as a condition of having his or
her statement included in the voter's pamphlet.

In the event of underpayment, the City Clerk shall prorate the underpayment amongst the
candidates,and require each candidate to pay his or her share of the balance of the costs incurred to
the City Clerk within 30 days of the election.
In the event of overpayment, the City Clerk shall prorate the excess amount amongst the
candidates, and refund the same to the candidates within 30 days of the election.
Section 5. Candidates for elective office will not be permitted to prepare other materials,
in addition to the sample ballot and the voter's pamphlet, to be sent separately to each voter.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was introduced and read at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 6th day of June ,2000,and was
duly adopted at said meeting by the following vote:
