RESOLUTION NO. 2000- �
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION GRANT APPLICATION FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
(SR2S)GRANT MONIES FOR IMPROVEMENTS THAT ENHANCE PEDESTRIAN
ROUTES LEADING TO SCHOOLS IN THE CITY OF REDDING.
WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has recommended that an
application for Safe Routes to School (SR2S) funds be submitted as soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that the City apply for a
California Department of Transportation SR2S grant to construct traffic signals and curb, gutter,
and sidewalk improvements; and
WHEREAS, the project cost is 90% eligible for SR2S funds, and approximately 10% will
be paid by using the Construction Tax Capital Account and/or the Sidewalk Repair Program; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that a State SR2S grant be
acquired;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that for the traffic signals, curb, gutter, and
sidewalk improvements to enhance pedestrian routes leading to schools, the City Council of the
City of Redding hereby authorizes:
1. The filing of an application for a California Department of Transportation SR2S grant;
and the utilization of Construction Tax Capital Account and/or the Sidewalk Repair Program funds
for the remaining 10% local match.
2. The City Manager, on behalf of the City of Redding, to execute the SR2S application
for and the Acceptance of the Grant/Offer, to obtain the necessary State funding to complete the
improvements that enhance pedestrian routes leading back to schools within the City of Redding.
3. The City Clerk to attest the signature of the City Manager, and to impress the official
seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
