A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
SUMMARILY VACATING A PORTION OF THE SONOMA STREET
RIGHT-OF-WAY, GENERALLY LOCATED ADJACENT TO 2384
SONOMA STREET.
WHEREAS:
A. Portions of Unit 2 of the Oak Ridge Heights Subdivision were dedicated to the
City of Redding for public use (streets, public utility easements, storm drain easements, sewer
easements and open space easements) as shown on that certain map recorded January 17, 1979, in
Book 15 of Maps at page 95, Shasta County Records.
B. With the realignment of Sonoma Street (the Sonoma Street Extension Project), a
portion of the land dedicated to the City is no longer required for street purposes.
C. It is the recommendation of staff that the City summarily vacate the previously-
dedicated street area adjacent to 2384 Sonoma Street, as more particularly described in Exhibit A
and shown crosshatched on Exhibit B attached and made a part hereof by reference, for street
purposes only, subject to the City reserving and excepting from the vacation all public utility
easements, storm drain easements, and sewer easements, and the right to maintain, operate,
replace, remove, or renew said public utility facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL DETERMINES, RESOLVES AND
ORDERS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council elects to proceed in this matter under the provisions of the Public
Streets, Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law as set forth in Section 8333, et
seq., of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.
2. The City Council approves the request to summarily vacate the previously-dedicated street
area adjacent to 2384 Sonoma Street, as more particularly described in Exhibit A and
shown crosshatched on Exhibit B attached and made a part hereof by reference, for street
purposes only, subject to the City reserving and excepting from the vacation all public
utility easements, storm drain easements, and sewer easements, and the right to maintain,
operate, replace, remove, or renew said public utility facilities. The street portion of the
easement has been superseded by the realignment (relocation) of Sonoma Street.
3. The City Clerk is directed to cause a certified copy of this resolution of vacation, attested
by the Clerk under seal, to be recorded in the office of the Shasta County
Assessor/Recorder.
4. Subject to the City reserving and excepting from the vacation all public utility easements,
storm drain easements, and sewer easements, and the right to maintain, operate, replace,
