HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2000-027 - Airport Improvement Program Zo+oo - 27 RESOLUTION NO.-W- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION FOR DISCRETIONARY AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (AIP) GRANT MONIES TO ACCOMPLISH CAPITAL PROJECTS AT REDDING MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE APPLICATION AND ALL SUBSEQUENT DOCUMENTATION TO OBTAIN FAA GRANT MONIES AND MATCHING FUNDS. WHEREAS,the FAA District Office has recommended that an application for unencumbered Airport Improvement Program (AlP) Discretionary Grant Funds be submitted as soon as possible; and WHEREAS, there is a significant need to reconstruct the main runway (16/34), including runway shoulders and blast pads, and purchase adjacent land for approach protection ; and WHEREAS,the total cost of said project is estimated at$5,153,250,of which 90%is eligible for the aforementioned AIP discretionary funds, and approximately 10% of which is eligible for funding by Passenger Facility Charges; and WHEREAS, the Airports Manager has recommended that the City apply for a U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, AlP Grant in the amount of $4,637.925 to accomplish the project program as outlined in Exhibit "A" a true copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein and to obtain the matching Passenger Facility Charges in the amount of$515,325; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that a Federal AIP Grant be acquired; and NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that for the project outlined in Exhibit"A",the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes: 1. The filing of an application for an FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Discretionary Gant in the amount of$4,637,925; and the utilization of Passenger Facility Charges in the amount of$515,325; 2. The City Manager, on behalf of the City of Redding,to execute the FAA Application form,including the Acceptance of the Grant/Offer,to obtain the necessary FAA funding to complete the project as identified in Exhibit"A"; and 3. The City Clerk to attest the signature of the City Manger, and to impress the official seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
