HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2273 - Housing Authority • ORDINANCE NO. 2273 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AMENDING CHAPTER 2.68 OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE: HOUSING AUTHORITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Redding Municipal Code Section 2.68.020, Commission Designated, is repealed in its entirety. Section 2. A new Section 2.68.020 is added to the Municipal Code,to read as follows: 2.68.020. Commission Designated. The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority shall consist of six members,namely each of the five City Council members and one member of the Housing Authority Resident Advisory Board. The Resident Advisory Board member shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of a majority of the members of the City Council. The term of office of the Resident Advisory Board member shall be for four years; except that if a vacancy shall occur for any reason it shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor, subject to the approval of a majority of the members of the City Council, for the unexpired portion of the term. The term of office for each City Council member serving on the Board of Commissioners shall coincide with each member's term of office on the City Council. Section 3. A new Section 2.68.030 is added to the Municipal Code,to read as follows: 2.68.030. Resident Advisory Board Member—Removal. The Resident Advisory Board member of the Board of Commissioners may be removed by the City Council. Any such member of the Board who fails to attend four consecutive meetings of the Board without permission from the City Council to be absent shall be considered automatically removed, and a vacancy shall be deemed to have occurred unless good cause is shown. The City Council shall be the sole judge as to whether or not good cause is shown; and when it is determined that it is not, then the vacancy so created shall be filled immediately by the Mayor,with and subject to the approval of the City Council, for the unexpired portion of the term. Section 4. The passage of this ordinance is not a "project"according to the definition in the California Environmental Quality Act, and therefore is not subject to the provisions requiring environmental review. 4-) 9, Section S. This ordinance shall take effect 30 days after the date of its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption thereof and cause its publication according to law.
