RESOLUTION NO. 01- 1/
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF 23,250
AUTOMATED REFUSE CONTAINERS THROUGH THE
CITY OF ONTARIO'S CONTRACT WITH TOTER, INC.
WHEREAS,in January 2001,the Solid Waste Utility was authorized by the City Council to
purchase 26,220 automated refuse containers; and
WHEREAS, at the request of the City Manager and upon approval by the City Council,
Redding Municipal Code Section 4.20.080 A.4 authorizes dispensing with the bidding process when
the goods or services proposed to be purchased do not constitute a public works project; and
WHEREAS, the staff would again like to use this purchasing method to purchase 23,250
automated refuse containers at$42.64 per 96-gallon container,$38.52 per 64-gallon container,and
$32.10 per 32-gallon container,including sales tax,through the City of Ontario's contract with Toter,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS,by continuing to purchase containers manufactured by Toter, Inc.,the staff is
standardizing the automated refuse containers already in the field,making field repairs much easier;
and
WHEREAS, funds are budgeted in the Solid Waste Utility for the purchase; and
WHEREAS, the proposed purchase of automated refuse containers does not constitute a
public works project;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City ofRedding that:
1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct.
2. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code Section 4.20.080 a.4., the City Council
authorizes.the purchase of 23,250 automated refuse containers through the City of
Ontario's contract with Toter,Inc.at $42.64 per 96-gallon container,and$38.52 per a
64-gallon container, and$32.10 per 32-gallon container, including sales tax.

3. The City Manager is authorized to execute the necessary documentation on behalf of
the City of Redding; and the City Clerk is directed to attest the signature of the City
Manager and affix the seal of the City.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read, and adopted at
a regular meeting of the City Council on the 17th day of July, 2001, by the following vote:
