HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2001-092 - Bikeway Improvements RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 2— A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION GRANT APPLICATION FOR BICYCLE TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT (BTA) GRANT MONIES FOR BIKEWAY IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF REDDING. WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has recommended that an application for Bicycle Transportation Account(BTA)funds be submitted as soon as possible; and WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that the City apply for a California Department of Transportation BTA grant to accomplish bikeway improvements, striping and lane widening; and WHEREAS, the project cost is 90% eligible for BTA funds, and approximately 10% will be paid by using the Construction Tax Capital Account and/or the Transportation Enhancement funds to be allocated by the Shasta County Regional Transportation Planning Agency; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Redding that a State BTA grant be acquired; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that for the striping and lane widening for bikeway improvements, the City Council of the City of Redding hereby authorizes: 1. The filing of an application for a California Department of Transportation Bicycle Transportation Account(BTA)grant;and the utilization of Construction Tax Capital Account and/or the Transportation Enhancement funds for the remaining 10% local match. 2. The City Manager, on behalf of the City of Redding, to execute the BTA Application for and the Acceptance of the Grant/Offer, to obtain the necessary State funding to complete the bikeway improvements within the City of Redding. 3. The City Clerk to attest the signature of the City Manager, and to impress the official seal of the City of Redding on the aforesaid documentation, when appropriate.
