HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2001-052 - Redding Convention Center RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 2- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING DECLARING THE ECONOMIC VIABILITY OF REFURBISHING THE SEATING FOR THE REDDING CONVENTION CENTER BY EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF REDDING AND APPROVING COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT BY FORCE ACCOUNT PURSUANT TO THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC CONTRACT CODE SECTION 22038. WHEREAS: A. The City of Redding(City) is a public agency under the definitions of California Public Contract Code Section 22030. B. The City has exercised the discretion afforded by Section 22038 of said Code and rejected all bids by private contractors to refurbish the theater seating at the Redding Convention Center. C. The City has reevaluated the cost estimates for the seating refurbishment,and determined that the refurbishment project can be performed more economically by employees of the City by force account. D. The deteriorated condition of the seating dictates that the seats be replaced for the comfort of Redding Convention Center guests. NOW,THEREFORE,IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby declares that the refurbishment of the Redding Convention Center theater seats can be performed more economically by the employees of the City of Redding, and may be done by force account as provided by Public Contract Code Section 22038(2). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that: 1. Pursuant to Redding Municipal Code§4.20.130 I.2.,staff is directed to purchase the necessary seat components from Irwin Seating Company,the manufacturer of the Convention Center seating system, or its authorized distributor, in an amount not to exceed $197,701. 2. The Bidding procedures be dispensed with pursuant to Redding Municipal Code § 4.20.080 A.2. 3. Staff return to the City Council for appropriation of funds and approval of a lease financing agreement. 4. The assembly and completion of the refurbishment project shall be done by City staff.
