HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2017-008 - Schedule of Classifications RESOLUTION NO. 2017-008 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO THE UNITED PUBLIC EMPLOYES OF CALFORNIA, LOCAL 792 —TECHNICAL UNIT NON-EXEMPT SCHEDULE OF CLASSIFICATIONS AND HOURLY WAGE RATES AND AMENDING HOLIDAY PAY RELATIVE TO THE ELECTRIC UTILITY SENIOR SYSTEM OPERATOR CLASSIFICATION, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 15, 2017 WHEREAS,staff has recommended amending the United Public Employees of California, Local 792— Technical Employees Unit (UPEC) Non-Exempt Schedule of Classifications and Hourly Wage Rates establishing the classification of Electric Utility Senior System Operator—Power with an hourly wage range of $52.55 -$63.87, effective January 15, 2017; and WHEREAS, the City of Redding and UPEC met and agreed to and approved the amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding(MOU)relative to amending holiday pay language for the Electric Utility Senior System Operator classification, effective January 15, 2017, as follows: Section 10: Holidays, 10.4 and 10.5 10.4 Notwithstanding the foregoing,employees regularly assigned to work twelve(12)hour shifts shall not be entitled to observe the following holidays; Lincoln Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day nor the employee's birthday. 10.5 Senior System Operators will observe the following holidays based on work schedule: DESCRIPTION OF HOLIDAY 9 hour 10 11 hour hour 1 January 1s' X X X �1 The third Monday in January,known as Martin Luther King,Jr. 2 X X X Day — — — C 3 Lincoln Day X X X 4 The third Monday in February, known as President's Da/ X X X —� 5 The last Monday in May, known as Memorial Day X X X 6 July 4`h X X X 7 First Monday in September, known as Labor Day X X X C 8 Employee's Birthday CC 9 The second Monday in October, known as Columbus Day X X 10 November 11th, known as Veteran's Dia y X 11 Thanksgiving X X X 12 Friday after Thanksgiving X X X 13 The last half of the normal work shift before Christmas X X X 14 December 25th X X X Total Holidays 12.5 11.5 10.5 WHEREAS,the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City to adopt such recommendation; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council that: a) the United Public Employees of California, Local 792 — Technical Employees Unit (UPEC) Non-Exempt Schedule of Classifications and Hourly Wage Rates be amended establishing the classification of Electric Utility Senior System Operator—Power with an hourly wage range of$52.55 -$63.87;and b)amending holiday pay language in the current MOU relative to the Electric Utility Senior System Operator classification,effective January 15, 2017.
