A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CONSOLIDATED GENERAL
MUNCIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF REDDING ON
NOVEMBER 8, 2016
WHEREAS, a Consolidated General Municipal Election was duly held in the City of
Redding on the 8`h day of November, 2016, for the purpose of electing two City Council
Members and a City Treasurer for a full term of four years each; and the purpose of deciding two
ballot measures, as set forth hereinafter; and
WHEREAS, the Shasta County Clerk has canvassed the returns of the election pursuant
to Government Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redding hereby resolves and
declares as follows:
1. That the persons receiving votes for the offices of Council Member, and the total
number of votes that each received is as follows:

2. That the person receiving votes for the office of City Treasurer, and the total
number of votes received is as follows:

3. That the measures submitted to the electors at said election and the total votes for
and against said measures is as follows:
Measure D: One-half cent transactions and use (sales) tax Yes— 14,373
No —23,947
Measure E: Advisory measure to Measure D Yes—25,004
No — 12,656
4. That the total number of registered voters in the City of Redding was 50,829, the
total number voting at said election was 40,678, resulting in a 80.03 percent voter
turnout.
5. That the two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the offices
of Council Member are Julie Winter and Adam McElvain.
6. That the candidate receiving the highest number of votes for the office of City
Treasurer is Allyn Fed Van Hooser.
7. That Measure D failed, having received less than a majority of the votes cast.
8. That Measure E passed, having received a majority of the votes cast. However,
as an advisory to the failed Measure D, Measure E will not be implemented.
9. That the number of votes cast for each of the candidates for the offices of Council
Member, the office of the City Treasurer, and for Measures D and E at each
precinct and the Vote-by-Mail ballots, are as set forth and shown on the attached
tally and made a part hereof by reference.
10. That Julie Winter and Adam McElvain are hereby declared to have been elected
as Council Members of the City of Redding for a full term of four years each,
effective December 6, 2016.
11. That Allyn Feci Van Hooser is hereby declared to have been elected as City
Treasurer of the City of Redding for a full term of four years, effective December
6, 2016.
12. That Measure D is hereby declared as failed and advisory Measure E is hereby
declared as passed.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read, and adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 6`h day of December,
2016, by the following vote:
