A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
DECLARING LAND LOCATED AT 1313 AND 1371 CALIFORNIA
STREET AS SURPLUS PROPERTY, SUBJECT TO THE RETENTION OF
AN EASEMENT(S), IF REQUIRED, FOR PUBLIC SERVICE UTILITIES
WHEREAS, the City owns two parcels comprising approximately .95 acres of land
located at 1313 and 1371 California Street (the "Property"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Redding acquired said parcels on November 5, 1974, from Lou
Gerard Motors; and
WHEREAS, the subject property was a former car dealership and renovations were
made to accommodate its usage as the City's Police Department until July 2015, at which time it
was relocated to the Civic Center; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that there is not a need to retain the property for
public purposes; and
WHEREAS, any sale of the subject property would require, if necessary, the retention of
an easement(s) for public service purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council FINDS, RESOLVES, and ORDERS as
follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct.
2. The Property is hereby declared surplus, subject to the retention of an easement(s), if
required, for public service purposes.
3. Sale of the Property by the City is categorically exempt from the requirements of the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15312 of the CEQA
Guidelines (Surplus Government Property Sales).
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and read at a regular
meeting of the Redding City Council on the 18th day of October, 2016, and was duly adopted at
said meeting by the following vote:
AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: Cadd, Schreder, Sullivan, Weaver, & McArthur
NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS: None
