A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDDING
APPROVING ON-CALL POWER POLE VACUUM EXCAVATION AND
TRAFFIC CONTROL (BID SCHEDULE 4835), PURSUANT TO PUBLIC
CONTRACT CODE SECTION 22034(d)
WHEREAS, on August 18, 2016, the City solicited for informal bids per the Uniform
Public Construction Cost Accounting Act for projects less than $175,000, for a one-year
agreement with the City to provide on-call power pole vacuum excavation and traffic control
services at various locations within the City of Redding on an as -needed basis for Redding
Electric Utility (REU); and
WHEREAS, the City received two bids for the work and the low bid was received from
Radar Excavating in Palo Cedro, California, in the amount of $210,162.50; and
WHERAS, the City has determined that the bid is reasonable; and
WHEREAS, the Public Contracts Code Section 22034(d) states: "If all bids received are
in excess of one hundred seventy-five thousand dollars ($175,000), the governing body of the
public agency may, by adoption of a resolution by a four-fifths vote, award the contract, at one
hundred eighty-seven thousand five hundred dollars ($187,500) or less, to the lowest responsible
bidder, if it determines the cost estimate of the public agency was reasonable;" and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council to award the
bid to Radar Excavating in the amount of $187,500.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced, read, and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Redding on the 20th day of September, 2016,
by the following vote:
