DINGER FOR UNICIPAL AIRPOR OUTSTANDING DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF REDDING WHEREAS, Rod A. Dinger began his career as Airports Operations Manager with the City of Redding on April 29, 1991; promoted to Airports Manager on August 11, 1996; and Support Services Director on May 1, 2011; and WHEREAS, prior to his career with the City of Redding, Mr. Dinger served in the United States Air Force, and has been a pilot since 1976; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dinger is an Accredited Executive Member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), was named Airport Executive of the Year in 2006 by the Southwest Chapter of AAAE, received the Southwest Chapter's Presidents Award in 2008, and was honored with the Southwest Chapter's Award of Distinction in 2015, in recognition of his promotion of aviation and uncommon dedication to service; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dinger has served on the Board of Directors of AAAE since 2007, served as President of the Southwest Chapter of AAAE in 2005-06, and served as President of the California Airports Council in 2013; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dinger has effectively managed the direction, organization, and operation of the Support Services Department, and was instrumental in the following: • Providing leadership in the successful management of six divisions with more than 126 full time employees including Solid Waste, Airports, Information Technology, Building Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance and Purchasing, with combined annual operating budgets of $30 million; • Successfully recruiting a new local access channel provider; • Negotiating a new agreement to enhance local community access television; • Managing capital improvements in excess of $45 million at Redding Municipal Airport and Benton Airpark; • Collaborating with Redding Fire Department on the construction of Fire Station No. 7 and the acquisition of a new Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Vehicle; • Promoting community involvement in the recruitment of additional air service options to the Redding market and establishment of a $1,000,000 Airline Travel Bank; and • Maintaining an outstanding safety and security record with both the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration at the City's Airports; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dinger has performed his duties with pride, integrity, and accountability, always looking out for the welfare of the organization. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby expresses its deep appreciation to Rod A. Dinger for his dedication and the many contributions he has made to the City of Redding and its citizens, and wishes him future success and happiness as he retires from public service.
