A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING TRANFERRING UNCLAIMED FUNDS IN THE
CUSTODY OF THE REDDING POLICE DEPARTMENT TO THE
GENERAL FUND PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE
SECTION 50053
WHEREAS, the Redding Police Department maintains a special account for money in the
custody of its Property Division; and
WHEREAS, the money in this special account was lost, found, abandoned or stolen, and the
rightful owner could not be located or identified; and
WHEREAS, Government Code sections 50050 through 50057, inclusive, provide the procedure
by which the unclaimed funds may be administered by the City Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code section 50056, the City Treasurer delegated
responsibilities as to notice and publication to the Redding Police Department for the reason that
the Redding Police Department has current custody of money in the special fund; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code sections 50050 and 50051, the Redding Police
Department published a notice in a newspaper of general circulation setting forth the amount of
funds to be transferred to the General Fund, the location of the funds and that the funds will
become the property of the City of Redding after the lapse of forty-five (45) days; and
WHEREAS, no claims have been made against said funds, and the Redding Police Department
has the sum of $31,309.33 ready for transfer to the General Fund pursuant to Government Code
section 50053; and
WHEREAS, the Redding Police Department has a need for police equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redding that:
1. The above recitals are true and correct.
2. The sum of $31,309.33 held in trust by the Redding Police Department, representative of
amounts accrued up to December 31, 2010, shall be transferred to the General Fund.
3. That said sums shall be available for the purchase of police equipment by the Redding
Police Department.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution of intention was introduced and adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council on the 15th day of December, 2015, by the following vote:
