RESOLUTION NO. 2015-059
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDDING COMMENDING WILLIAM R. NAGEL FOR
OUTSTANDING DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF REDDING
WHEREAS, William R. Nagel began his career as Building Official with the City of Redding on
October 21, 1996; being promoted to Assistant Director of Development Services/Building Official on
March 5, 2000; and Director of Development Services on October 8, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nagel has effectively managed the direction, organization, and operation of the
Development Services Department; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nagel provided leadership in the Development Services Department and was
instrumental in the following:
• Developing the written -letter format in the plan review process;
• Creating a Building Division Policy Manual;
• Implementing the City's Integrated Land Management System;
• Updating the City's Development Impact Fees Program in 2014;
• Providing timely and accurate responses to all City departments, as well as members of the
public;
• Maintaining the cohesiveness of the Development Services Department during lean budgetary
years so that the public would continue to receive outstanding service; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nagel was active in the community, being elected President of the Shasta Cascade
Structural Engineers Association from 2001-2003; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nagel provided leadership as President of the California Building Officials
(CA -LBO) in 2012-2013; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nagel served on the Board of Directors for the Structural Engineers Association of
California (SEAOC) for two years; and
WHEREAS, William R. Nagel has performed his duties with pride, integrity, and accountability,
always looking out for the welfare of the organization.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby
expresses its deep appreciation to William R. Nagel for his dedication and the many contributions he has made
to the City of Redding and its citizens, and wishes him future success and happiness as he retires from public
service.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting of
the Redding City Council of the City of Redding on the 2151 day of July 2015, and was duly adopted at said
meeting by the following vote:
