WHEREAS, Kevin L. Kreitman began his career as Fire Chief with the City of Redding Fire
Department on September 2, 2008; and
WHEREAS, prior to joining the Redding Fire Department, Kevin L. Kreitman served as a
Firefighter/Paramedic, Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief and Fire Chief with the City of Albany, Oregon;
and
WHEREAS, Chief Kreitman is a graduate of the U. S. Fire Administration, National Fire
Academy, Executive Fire Officer Program, and has also served as an adjunct instructor at the National Fire
Academy; and
WHEREAS, Chief Kreitman is a member of two National Fire Protection Association
Committees dealing with Combustible Metals and Hazardous Chemicals and is the Chair of the National
Fire Protection Association's Combustible Dust Technical Correlating Committee; and
WHEREAS, Chief Kreitman has provided leadership in the Redding Fire Department and was
instrumental in the following:
• Development of a mission statement;
• Successfully obtaining: SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response)
grant for $1.4 million in funding for nine positions; AFG (Assistance to Firefighters Grant)
for $502,000 for replacement of the Department's Self -Contained Breathing Apparatus
(SCBA); two Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee grants in the amount of
$90,717 for the purchase of new hydraulic rescue tools; HSG (Homeland Security Grant) in
the amount of $29,255 for training of Department personnel and $11,500 for radios; and
• Re -opening Fire Station 2 in October 2012 by working collaboratively with the Redding
Firefighters Association;
• Creating a Training Division Chief position;
• Implementation of a Low -Angle Rope Rescue Operational (LARRO) program;
• Replacement of one Type 1 OES fire engine and new placement of one Type 3 OES
wildland fire engine;
WHEREAS, Chief Kreitman has performed his duties with pride, integrity and accountability,
always looking out for the welfare of the organization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redding hereby
expresses its deep appreciation to Kevin L. Kreitman for his dedication and the many contributions he has
made to the City of Redding and its citizens, and wishes him future success and happiness as he retires
from public service.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was introduced and read at a regular meeting
of the Redding City Council of the City of Redding on the 21S` day of July 2015, and was duly adopted at
said meeting'by the following vote:
