AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDDING AMENDING TITLE 6
(BUSINESS TAXES, LICENSES AND REGULATIONS), CHAPTER 6.14
(CARD ROOMS), OF THE REDDING MUNICIPAL CODE BY
AMENDING SECTION 6.14.150 RELATED TO CARDROOM
OPERATING IN CONFORMITY WITH THE GAMBLING CONTROL
ACT
WHEREAS, the City of Redding regulates card rooms pursuant to and consistent with
the Gambling Control Act; and
WHEREAS, the Gambling Control Act requires the City to exercise discretionary
regulatory control over certain aspects of operation of card room operations; and
WHEREAS, the only legally permissible card room business in the City of Redding is
the Casino Club, located at 1885 Hilltop Drive, Redding, California; and
WHEREAS, the State Division of Gambling Controls has deemed it necessary for the
City Council to amend its local regulation to be consistent with Department of Justice licensing
requirements and approvals granted to the Casino Club.
WHEREAS, the State Division of Gambling Control has reviewed the proposed
amendment to the Redding Municipal Code and determined that this change in the Code is
compliant with the Gambling Control Act.
. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDDING DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Title 6, Chapter 6.14, Sections 6.14.150 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
6.14.150 Authorized games/Supervision of tables.
A. Cardrooms licensed to conduct gaming in the city shall be permitted to conduct all lawful
card games in the state. Each and all such games to be played shall be operated in full
conformity with and subject to all of the laws of the State.
B. Each card table shall have assigned to it a person whose duty shall be to supervise the
game and to see that it is played strictly in accordance with the terms of this chapter and
with the provisions of the Penal Code. That person may have more than one table under
supervision at any one time. O

Section 3. The passage of this ordinance is not a"project" according to the definition
in the California Environmental Quality Act, and therefore is not subject to the provisions
requiring environmental review.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect 30 days after the date of its adoption, and
the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption thereof and cause its publication according to law.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was introduced and read by the City
Council at a regular meeting on the 15th day of July, 2014; and was duly read and adopted at a
regular meeting on the 19th day of August, 2014, by the following vote:
